Residents should expect an emergency alert on their mobile phones at 5pm this afternoon. For more information, please see the post from Cornwall Council below.


Emergency alerts will be sent to mobile phones at 5pm today - January 8 - as Storm Goretti hits Cornwall.

It will contain information on the red weather warning and how to stay safe.

Compatible mobile phones will make a loud siren-like sound even if they are set on silent. The sound and vibration will last for about 10 seconds.

Those experiencing domestic abuse with hidden phones could be put at risk if the device is discovered.

You can opt out in your phone’s settings to protect your safety.
