A man has described how he found a 17th century hand-grenade washed up on a beach from a Cornish shipwreck. Robert Felce was walking along the low-water shoreline at Dollar Cove, at Gunwalloe near Helston, when he made the remarkable discovery. Incredibly, the weapon was still packed with black residue, the remains of the original gun power, after 333 years under water. A major search operation is under way after a tourist on a bike went missing yesterday afternoon. The 53-year-old German man has not been seen since 3pm yesterday when he went out cycling on the coast between Newlyn and Sennen Cove. The inshore and offshore Penlee lifeboats, along with the two Sennen lifeboats, and the cliff rescue teams from Penzance and Land's End and the coastguard helicopter have been asked to carry out a shoreline search. Investigations are now under way into the cause of a huge fire at a waste transfer station and recycling centre in Pool. Around 100 firefighters from across Cornwall were called to deal with the blaze, which could be seen from as far away as Truro and St Ives. A huge fire has broken out at a waste transfer station and recycling centre in Pool. Smoke from the blaze can be seen from as far away as Truro and St Ives.
