A man has been rescued from the sea after he fell overboard from his own boat today. The incident happened at Port Isaac this morning. The village's RNLI lifeboat station was notified and the lifeboat was launched to pick him up. It is not clear how he ended up in the water. Three men have been sentenced for their roles in the "ferocious" killing of a drunken man who was lured to a St Austell park where he was subjected to a frenzied knife attack. A woman from Penzance called 999 and asked the operator for help to make her lunch. The call was taken by handlers from South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust after the woman asked for an ambulance. The South West has seen a drop in the number of armed police officers - while every other region has seen a rise. An armed officer is any officer which can be operationally deployed with a firearm. They will often also carry out normal duties. While across the UK the number of armed officers is increasing, the South West has seen a drop of 27 officers since 2016 — meaning that there are 439 trained firearm officers across the entire region, which covers five police forces. A 66-year-old Liskeard woman has avoided a jail sentence after plying her 14-year-old gardener with alcohol and inciting him to masturbate as a bet. The woman, who cannot be named in order to protect her victim, received a suspended jail sentence after appearing at Bodmin Magistrates Court on Thursday. Teen pregnancy rates in Cornwall have fallen to their lowest level, with half the number of young girls having babies than five years ago. According to the latest figures released, 161 under-18s became pregnant in 2015, the last full year for which figures are available, compared to 319 in 2010. A mother-of-three whose life took a wrong turn following a traumatic event was discovered dead by her younger son after she took a massive heroin overdose.
