The Cornish community is pulling together to offer free holidays to those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire in London. The first will be a week in Falmouth at the end of August. Cornwall Hugs Grenfell is inviting families from the tower and those in adjacent blocks to register interest in the holiday, which has been offered by Falmouth University and the University of Exeter. Cornwall Council has issued a fresh warning after a Truro man became the latest to receive a phone call out of the blue from someone claiming to be from the council tax department. A man has died after a bus crash in Truro yesterday. The man, in his 80s, was involved in the collision with what appeared to be a PR1 Park and Ride bus around 9.45am on Monday morning. It happened on Station Road in the city, which was shut for hours as investigations took place. Police confirmed on Tuesday the man had died and his next of kin informed.
