Two young girls who got caught in a rip current off Whitsand Bay and were close to drowning were rescued by the RNLI off the south east Cornwall coast.
Lifeguards were carrying out routine patrols along Whitsand Bay at around 2pm on Sunday (July 9) when they came to the aid of the children in difficulty off Sharrow beach.

NHS reshuffle could affect Penryn Surgery revenue and services
Proposals by the NHS to reclassify some of the parishes around Penryn have been criticised with questions being asked as to whether there is an ulterior motive for the move.
Penryn Surgery said if villages like Mabe and Budock are changed from rural to non-rural that could have severe knock-on effects, not just for the future of village surgeries, but for shops as well.
