A casualty had to be airlifted from the beach after getting stuck on rocks. The coastguard helicopter was called in due to the location of the man at Perranporth Beach. The coastguard teams cleared people from the area so that the Rescue 924 helicopter could land just after midday yesterday (July 8). He was winched to safety and returned to the beach. A main road in Cornwall has been closed due to a serious accident believe to have caused a death. The A38 is said to be shut in both directions between Tideford and Landrake. Congestion is building up around the scene and there are knock-on effects with westbound traffic reportedly slow at Liskeard. An inquest tomorrow (July 10) will try to get to the bottom of the tragic death of a police officer weeks after he found the body of his policewoman girlfriend.
