A total of 25 firefighters were needed to tackle a fire at a farmhouse near Penzance this afternoon.
At 12.57pm Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service received a call alerting them to a fire at the unoccupied farmhouse at Alverton, Penzance. Two crews from Penzance were dispatched to the scene and on arrival the firefighters noted fears that people may have been trapped inside.

Arson suspected after fire at derelict St Austell home possibly...
Three fire crews were called to battle a fire at a derelict property in St Austell which firefighters suspect was started on purpose. Two pumps from St Austell Community Fire Station were called to the fire at Truro Road shortly before 9:30am yesterday (July 15).
Upon arrival firefighters found smoke coming from the property and initially suspected that there may have been people inside due to the possibility the property could have been being used by squatters.
